Geisinger Health System (GHS) is seeking an experienced Board-Certified Neonatologist to lead our group of neonatologists, neonatal nurse practitioners and neonatal physician assistants based at the Janet Weis Children’s Hospital in Danville, PA. Qualified applicants are expected to have demonstrated superior clinical and teaching skills, as well as experience in leadership, administration and quality improvement. An academic appointment is available through the Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine.
The NICU at Geisinger Medical Center’s Janet Weis Children’s Hospital is a 41-bed, Level IV Regional Center serving central and northeastern Pennsylvania. The NICU receives 700 annual admissions, of which more than 250 neonates are transported via a NICU-based air/ ground transport team. The NICU serves as a training site for pediatric and internal medicine-pediatric residents, medical students as well as physician assistant and neonatal nurse practitioner students from various universities.
The Department of Neonatology provides continuous in house coverage, assisted by NNPs, PAs and Geisinger house staff, for the NICU located immediately adjacent to labor and delivery. Neonatology services are supported by an active maternal-fetal medicine service, pre-natal pediatric center, and a complete array of pediatric medical and surgical specialists. The department is active in outreach education and simulation programs to more than 20 hospitals throughout our referral area and is a member of the Vermont-Oxford Network VLBW database. All department members participate in performance improvement projects that benefit NICU patients.
Janet Weis Children’s Hospital (JWCH), located on Geisinger Medical Center’s campus in Danville, is the region’s only dedicated 5-floor, 89 bed children's hospital with a full-service hospitalist program. JWCH’s team of medical and surgical specialists provide care in over 30 pediatric specialties. JWCH provides medical malpractice insurance with tail coverage.
