Central Michigan University College of Medicine is seeking applications for a joint position with the CMU Intercollegiate Athletics Department. The successful candidate will provide educational and clinical services as a direct patient care provider providing medical consultation, and acute injury services for clinical practices in the University operated medical clinics and Student Health Services. In addition, the successful candidate will also support the University’s Division I Intercollegiate Athletics Department as the Medical Director & Head Team Physician.
The role of Medical Director and Head Team Physician is to oversee the activities of Team Physicians, Orthopedic Physician group, and Voluntary Physicians along with being the oversight of Central Michigan University Sports Medicine Department staff certified and licensed athletic trainers. The Medical Director and Head Team Physician is responsible for the care of all student athletes participating in Central Michigan University intercollegiate athletics.
Candidate specialties for consideration include but are not limited to Family, Internal, and Sports Medicine. This is a unique opportunity for physicians to pursue clinical work while contributing to the college’s mission focusing on primary care, education and scholarly activity. MD or DO degree. Licensed or eligible for unrestricted licensure in the State of Michigan.
Board-certification or eligibility in a recognized American Board Medical Specialty
2-5 years’ experience post Fellowship
Facilitation skills with interactive learning in large and small group settings
Strong collaborative and communication skills
Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work with all discipline in the health care team
Clinical teaching experience
Understanding of clinical processes and problem solving.
Diagnostic Ultrasound Trained
PRP, Tenex Trained
Previous Athletics Team Physician Experience, NCAA Division I Intercollegiate Athletics Strong interpersonal relationship driven personality
Experience with cross-disciplinary teaching
Documented experience in patient and/or case-based medical education.
