Supervises the compiling and maintaining of records of to assure information is complete, accurate, authenticated and consistent with medical, administrative, ethical and regulatory requirements of the healthcare system. Responsible for issuing and tracking new and reappointment applications, and communicating status of such to internal and external customers. Responsible for prioritizing and assigning new applications for processing. Processes credentialing and re-credentialing applications of practitioners, reviews application, prepares verification letters, track responses, follows-up for needed information. Conduct background investigations on practitioners including licensure, education and post-graduate clinical training, board certification, disciplinary actions and other professional sanctions, malpractice history, and peer assessment of current competence, in accordance with Joint Commission credentialing standards and other established principles of legal documentation and confidentiality. Maintains credentialing database by entering accurate and up-to-date data for each applicant into the database. Responsible for the accuracy and integrity of the data entered, and performs quality checks on completed files prior to distribution. Assists credentialing staff with duties such as preparing mailings, and attending medical staff meetings, etc. Provide file presentation support to each facility's Credentials Committee meeting. Primary focus is participating in the completion of the tasks and assisting staff with complex tasks or problem area. Secondary task is to monitor completion of tasks by work group, including input into work assignments.
Bachelor's Degree preferred
Minimum Associate's Degree
Medical Terminology preferred
Knowledge of MS Database, Word and Excel
Must be organized and be able to work quickly, independently, and with little supervision
Minimum 3 years working in credentialing
C. Licenses, Registrations or Certifications:
Certified Professional in Medical Services Management CPMSM and/or Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) preferred
