POSITION SUMMARY: The Cancer Registry's primary responsibility lies with utilizing accurate case finding methodology for all cancer cases originating within CHRISTUS St. Vincent and the abstraction of data from the record according to the timelines as dictated by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer. This includes the abstraction of data from hospital records as well as from Medical and Radiation Oncologists practicing within the community that manage the CHRISTUS St. Vincent caseload.
INIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent required. CERTIFICATION/LICENSES: Tumor Registrar certification required SKILLS: * Requires a person to have a good understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology, cancer as a disease, and modalities of treatment * Proficient with computers including Microsoft office and database management programs EXPERIENCE: Two years experience as a tumor registrar. NATURE OF SUPERVISION: Responsible to: Director, Cancer Center ENVIRONMENT: - Bloodborne pathogen A Exposure to radiation, lead, cadmium, PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Knowledge of sound ergonomic principles. Bending and stretching while filing.
