Provides and supervises the provision of efficient and accurate medication service for patients/customers, evaluates individual medication needs, clarifies or corrects orders with physicians and nurses, provides assistance and in-depth drug information to medical personnel, and performs operational and clinical functions or projects as assigned. Meets the qualifications to provide care for patients in the specific age range on their assigned clinical area. The position is a one-year fixed-term position and performs in accordance with the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) PGY1 Pharmacy Residency standards.
Job Duties
Assumes responsibility for the delivery of pharmaceutical care to patient groups served by the particular pharmacy in which the resident is scheduled to work.
Coordinates and supervises workplace activities and resources; promotes professional competence; assures that services rendered and work performed are in accordance with specific standards.
Consults and advises members of the medical staff on matters relating to specific drug therapy problems; provides in-depth drug information and other informational materials to members of the medical, nursing, and related staff.
Maintains a current understanding of the departmental workflows related to drug distribution and clinical practice.
Participates in various clinical pharmacy activities as requested (e.
G., round with a medical service, seeing scheduled patients in outpatient clinics, medication usage evaluations, pharmacokinetic dosing of medications, telehealth correspondence, coverage of Drug Information Service).
Adheres to and upholds the accreditation standards of an ASHP-accreditted PGY1 pharmacy residency program.
