The Iowa City VA Health Care System is seeking a full-time, permanent Diagnostic Radiologist in the Imaging Service Line. This position is located at the Iowa City VA Medical Center in Iowa City, Iowa. This is an open and continuous announcement. Applications will be reviewed and referred every two weeks until a candidate is selected or the closing date of the announcement, whichever occurs first. The Radiologist administers the activities of the service to include: Planning for the provision of care, including adequate personnel, diagnostic equipment, and supplies to ensure availability of those procedures which are appropriate to the needs of the facility; Providing a timely and quality product; Adherence to, standard procedures and protocols; Monitoring of activities which improve patient safety, performance, and quality; Ensuring patient privacy and confidentiality of patient medical information. Responsibilities include: Reviewing imaging requests ensuring proper protocoling of CT, MRI, ultrasound, and nuclear medicine exams/procedures. Timely interpretations of radiology procedures and examinations. Accurate documentation of procedures with the EHR as required by medical by-laws. Participation in training of medical students, residents and other allied trainees. Ordering, approval and scheduling of studies, listing those study orders requiring prior approval by a Radiologist; Informed consent, including protocols for screening patients who require signature consent; Injection of intravenous contrast agents; Interpretation and reporting of procedures; Preliminary reports and communication of urgent results; Follow protocol and procedure manuals for each modality; Follow MRI safety policy; Follow radiation safety procedures, including safe use of fluoroscopy and the reporting and documentation fo excessive patient exposures. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, on call required Financial Disclosure Report: Not required This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan reimbursement program. To participate in the program, you must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA Policy 1021 and submit your application within four months of appointment. The final award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) is determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services office.
