The Caregiver Support Program (CSP) is one of the VHA's most rapidly growing service areas, as a result of infrastructure modernization, programming innovation, and expansion of population-served by the Program of Comprehensive Assistance for Family Caregivers under MISSION Act. The program goal is to not only support caregivers in their role but to also promote their health and well-being through education, therapeutic engagement, and resource and service linkage. The VISN Centralized Eligibility and Appeals Team (CEAT) Caregiver Support Program Physician is assigned to VISN 12, within the CSP. This Physician although stationed at the VISN 12 Office-with primary role of CSP clinical eligibility reviewer, may have clinical privileges and credentialing at a VA Medical Center (VAMC) or Community-based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) that is in close proximity to the VISN 12 Office. Up to 20% of their time may dedicated to a combination of direct clinical care, academic teaching/training, research, and/or program evaluation at the VAMC for which they hold clinical privileges. This work would be separate from caregiver support. The duties for the incumbent must be at least 80% administrative and related to the CET. The other duties will be determined by the incumbent and their VISN 12 leadership. Each individual CET team member will review the Veteran's medical record summary, most recent History & Physical, findings of recent testing at the facility, caregiver assessment and care team input. The team member will present their respective findings to the interprofessional team and adjudicate clinical appeals related to caregiver program eligibility. The team will meet and render a multi-disciplinary decision regarding clinical eligibility, based on all eligibility requirements. If deemed eligible, the team will also determine the appropriate level of caregiving required (tier level).
