The Cancer Registry Clerk is responsible for case finding (ascertainment), providing follow up functions, and maintaining the follow-up percentages for the Cancer Registry(ies) as required by the American College of Surgeons standards. The Cancer Registry Clerk utilizes a variety of resources to identify cases for abstraction (Pathology Reports, HIM Coding reports, Bill Reports, etc.) The Cancer Registry Clerk enters data of potential cases for abstraction into suspense file in the Cancer Registry system. The Cancer Registry Clerk maintains and protects the confidentiality of patient records and works closely with the Cancer Registrar and Cancer Registry Manager to ensure operational needs of the facilities are met.
The ideal candidate has excellent verbal and written communication skills, is patient and a great listener.
