Clerk OR Full Time Rotating Position Summary
Effectively coordinates activities necessary to ensure that initiation of patient care is completed in an expedient and organized manner. Responsible for maintaining professional conduct, communication skills while contributing to the goals of the department. Participates in monitoring and maintaining resources in the department.
Level 1 â�� Skilled (meets Competency Based Skills Checklist Assessment) Coordinate clerical and office activities within the Imaging department necessary to ensure that initiation of patient care is completed in an expedient and organized manner. Greet visitors promptly. Promote positive relationships with public, patients and staff. Demonstrate use of effective interpersonal skills and present with a positive attitude. Sign-in business visitors before announcing their arrival to department. Access HIS/RIS and PACS: enter orders, edit, change, charge exams. Operate printer, copier, scanner, fax and document shredder. Empty document shredders when full, to maintain a clean-looking work area. Place unshredded sensitive documents in assigned bin. Display patient information within the PACS system. Utilize the PACS Scanner and input all pertinent information in PACS (ie. Requisition). Operate PACScube to burn CDs. Prepare forms necessary to unit management. Distribute correspondence. Type documents. Forward patient or visitor complaints to Lead Tech or Manager for follow-up. Manage calls for missing reports. Demonstrate knowledge of telephone etiquette: answer telephone promptly â�� introduce self and location. Use friendly tone of voice. Answer caller questions tactfully. Refer calls to proper party. Promptly transfer call. Offers options for voicemail or cell phone to callers for Manager/Director. Operate a multiple-line telephone. Utilize voice messaging appropriately. Relate information from units to appropriate staff/physicians. Utilize resources necessary for communication: digital paging system, digital pager/Vocera before overhead, paging (Intercommunication System). Maintain clean and safe work/patient care environment. Report observations of safety concerns. Identify and order commonly used forms and supplies. Perform duties following department process and protocols. Maintain patient confidentiality as regulated by HIPPA.
Level 2 â�� Proficient (in addition to above duties) Maintain files for reference as necessary. Provide assistance with special projects or assignments as requested. Demonstrate ability to prioritize tasks according to urgency. Develop a routine that allows for maximum use of time. Exhibit ability to effectively multitask.
Level 3 â�� Subject Matter Expert (in addition to above duties) Participate in quality improvement measures within the department. Assist the Department Manager/Director as requested in review and update of department functions and procedures.
THE CLERK OR FULL TIME ROTATING CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS THE FOLLOWING EDUCATION, LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE.
Education Required: High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (G.E.D.)
Certificates Preferred: In field or specific environment
Experience Required: 3-6 months in hospital, physicians office or general /clerical office. Preferred: One year hospital experience
Skills Required: Verbal and written communication skills. Grammar and spelling competency. Interpersonal, team building, self-motivation, detail oriented and accountability. Preferred: Communication, interpersonal, team player, collaborative, critical-thinking and decision-making, detail-oriented.
Knowledge Required: Orientation to office procedures
Technology Required: Basic computer skills Preferred: Awareness of current use of technology in related field.
Other Required: Must be able to work rotating shifts, holidays and/or weekends.
