Responsibilities

We are seeking a well-trained Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to join our Division of Behavioral Health, in Westchester Medical Center, in Valhalla New York. The position also includes responsibilities at the WMC Network Health Alliance Hospital in Kingston, NY. The successful candidate must have a minimum two years of experience. Candidates must also possess a valid NYS Nurse Practitioner in Psychiatry License and be qualified to treat both adolescents and adults. Additional qualification to also treat children and adolescents preferred.

The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for determining clients' diagnosis and psychiatric needs, prescribing the medication to be utilized during the course of treatment, and providing patient education and monitoring of their mental and physical health.  The responsibilities additionally include reviewing patients' medication records to determine the appropriateness of the existing medication regimen. The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will work collaboratively with the Psychiatrist and treatment team in both our Health Alliance and MidHudson Regional location. The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner's role at Health Alliance is to provide psychiatric services to the patients in the Adult Partial Hospital Program. At MidHudson Regional Hospital the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner treats adult patients in the outpatient Mental Health Clinic.
